Southern Current establishing solar facility in Orangeburg County

COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 7, 2017) – Southern Current LLC, a company that specializes in the ownership and development of long-term solar energy projects, today announced that it will be launching a new solar energy project in Orangeburg County. The development is expected to bring more than $10 million of new capital investment.

Headquartered in Charleston, S.C., Southern Current strives to make solar power economically attractive to utilities and consumers. Focused on residential, commercial and utility-scale solar energy projects, Southern Current is working with regulators, landowners, utilities and business development groups throughout the United States to build more than one gigawatt of new solar projects by the end of 2017.

Located between Springfield Road and Burgdorf Lane in Orangeburg, S.C., this Orangeburg County project will be an eight-megawatt (MW) direct current facility and is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2017.
